Chord synth & sequencer for iPhone
maxChord does not collect your data. There are no accounts, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking, and no third-party data collection. The app has no networking code of any kind.
This policy explains what maxChord ("the app") does and does not do with information. It applies to the maxChord iOS app published by Maximilian Schmidt ("we", "us").
Nothing. maxChord contains no analytics SDK, no advertising SDK, no crash reporter, and no code that sends information anywhere. We receive no personal information about you, and we could not identify an individual user if we wanted to.
Specifically, the app does not access or collect:
maxChord does not track you across apps or websites, and does not share data with data brokers. Its bundled Apple privacy manifest declares no tracking and no collected data types.
maxChord saves your work locally, on your iPhone, using Apple's standard on-device storage. This includes:
This information never leaves your device unless you deliberately export it (see below). Deleting the app removes it.
Settings includes an Export option that writes your projects and saved songs to a JSON file. You choose where that file goes using the system file picker — for example the Files app or iCloud Drive. We never see it. Once you have exported a file, it is governed by whatever service you saved it to, not by us. Import reads such a file back from a location you pick.
maxChord can send and receive MIDI to and from hardware instruments and other apps on your device. These are local music-data connections — note, clock, and control messages. Nothing is transmitted over the internet, and no MIDI data is recorded or sent to us.
maxChord offers an optional subscription and a one-time lifetime unlock. All purchases are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store using Apple's in-app purchase system.
Apple's handling of your purchase is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy. Subscriptions are managed in your Apple Account settings, not by us.
maxChord is safe for users of any age. Because the app collects no personal information whatsoever, it collects none from children. It complies with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) and equivalent regulations by design.
Data-protection laws such as the GDPR and CCPA give you rights to access, correct, export, and delete personal data a company holds about you. Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to retrieve, correct, or erase. Your app data lives on your own device and is entirely under your control: you can export it or delete it at any time by deleting the app.
maxChord bundles the open-source AudioKit audio framework and several freely licensed SoundFont instrument libraries. These are offline audio components compiled into the app. They do not collect data and do not communicate with any server. Full credits are listed in the app under Settings → About.
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date. Because the app collects no data, we do not expect material changes; if maxChord ever did begin collecting anything, we would say so here clearly and in advance.
