Chord synth & sequencer for iPhone
Something broken, confusing, or missing? Write to maximumapps@icloud.com — a real person reads it.
Tap a pad. Hold a pad and drag in any direction to morph the chord — each direction gives a different variation (seventh, sus, diminished, and so on). The hint labels around the pad edge show you where each one lives.
Flick the key or octave segment on the readout bar up or down. Tap the mode segment to switch between play modes.
Swipe up on a pad to lock it. A locked pad keeps the morphed chord you last played on it, so the variation becomes the pad's new resting chord instead of snapping back.
Go to the Song page. Each track is a lane of tiles. Tap an empty tile to place a chord, double-tap a tile to split it, and flick a tile vertically to resize it. Chain patterns into sections on the Song tab.
Yes — maxChord sends and receives MIDI. Enable it in Settings → MIDI. Note that GarageBand ignores incoming MIDI channels, so to record separate tracks there you record one lane at a time using mute. Logic and Ableton respect per-track channels.
If a banner said a sound library failed to load, reinstalling the app usually fixes it. If the whole app is silent, check that your device is not in silent mode and that no other app has taken exclusive audio control. Bluetooth speakers occasionally need a reconnect.
Settings → Data → Export writes everything to a single JSON file you can store wherever you like. Import restores it. Worth doing before you change devices.
Settings → maxChord Pro → Manage Subscription, or in iOS Settings under your Apple Account → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the current period ends. A free trial that is cancelled before it ends is not charged.
Tap Restore Purchases on the paywall or in Settings → maxChord Pro. Make sure you are signed in with the same Apple Account you purchased with.
Tap Redeem Code on the paywall or in Settings → maxChord Pro. Lifetime promo codes are redeemed in the App Store app instead, under your account picture → Redeem Gift Card or Code.
Purchases go through Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We cannot issue refunds directly, but tell us what went wrong and we will try to fix it.
Helpful things to include: your iPhone model, your iOS version, what you were doing, and what happened instead. Screenshots or a screen recording make it much faster to fix.
